CARROT-PEAS PULAO/KAJAR MATTAR PULAO/ கேரட் பச்சைப் பட்டாணி சாதம்


Yummy and healthy Rice. Cashews fried in Ghee makes this rice rich and more tasty.
It is so simple and easy to make.

Fresh Desi cow ghee, Basmati rice, Fresh 🥕 Carrots and green peas with a very few aromatic spices in our kitchen storage box make this rice, just blissful food on your plate.

I am sure that the aroma of cooking this rice will nourish our soul and mind and trigger our taste buds.🥰😋

Let's move to the recipe 

Ingredients:

Indiagate Dubar Basmati rice 175 gm/1.5 cup
Water as needed for rinsing and soaking+1.5 cup water for cooking.
Fresh Desi Ghee 1 tsp
Fresh carrots Grated one bowlful
Fresh green peas 1/× cup or 50 gms+1_4 tsp salt+ water 1/2 cup
Bay leaves 2 pcs
Star anise 1 pc
Cloves 2 pcs
Cardamom (optional) 1 pc
Cinnamon sticks 3-4 pcs
Whole Cashews 10-12 pcs
Bellary onion one medium size 
Coriander greens, a fistful
Small red chillies 5 pcs
Mint leaves, a fistful
Groundnut oil 3 tbsp
Fresh Curd 1 tsp
Grated Ginger 1 tsp
Powdered salt 1/2 tsp

Procedure:

Rinse the rice twice and soak the rice for 30 minutes.
Drain the water completely 







Add 1.5 cups of water and one tsp ghee.
Stir to combine.

Pressure cook until one whistle on low flame.
Set aside to cool down.
Open the cooker.
See how the rice cooked!








Cook the peas with 1/4 tsp salt and 1/2 cup of water on medium heat until they cooked soft.




Heat the wok with Groundnut oil on medium heat.
Add spices -Bay leaves, Cinnamon sticks, Star anise, Cloves and Cardamom pod.
Let them fry on low heat.
Add bellary onion, green Chillies slit.
Add coriander greens and mint leaves. 
Saute for a while.
Add turmeric.
Add Grated ginger.
Saute for 5 seconds.











Now transfer Grated 🥕 🥕 🥕 Carrot.
Saute for a while.
Add turmeric. 
Add drained and cooked peas.
Add one tsp Curd and powder salt.
Saute for a while.









Transfer the rice and mix to combine on low heat.
Turn off the heat.





In a tempering pan add Ghee and heat low flame.
Add Whole Cashews and let them frying until golden brown.
Transfer the fried cashews along with ghee to the mixed rice.
Mix to combine.











Carrot peas pulao is ready to serve.








It goes very well with Raita, salad and veg gravy.
Kids and adults will love to have without sides.
It is an ultimate pulao that promise healthy serve.
It can be served as breakfast, Lunch box food and also comfort food for dinner too.

YUMMY TOORDAL THUVAIYAL/துவரம்பருப்புத் துவையல்


This is one of the most favourite accompaniment of the hot steamed Rice in South Indian dining table.

This version of Thuvayal is so simple and quick.
Also, this Thuvayal is always being relied on especially whenever veggies have been run out or so much boredom to make an elaborate side dishes for lunch meals.



Toor dal is richly loaded with dietary fiber,  High protein and folate.


Let's make 

Ingredients:

Toor dal 75 gm/3/4 cul
Red Chillies  2 pcs+2 pcs
Groundnut oil 1.5 tbsp+1.5 tsp
Curry leaves 10-15 pcs
Chana dal 1 tbsp
Shallots 1/2 cup 
Garlic 5 pcs
Coriander seeds 1 tsp
Cumin seeds 1/2  tsp
Tamarind Gooseberry size 
Coconut  shredded 1/2 cup
Asafoetida 2 pinches
Rock Salt 1/2 tsp
Jaggery powder 1/× tsp
Water as needed



Procedure:

Heat the pan with Groundnut oil on medium heat. 
Add two red chillies.
Saute for a while.
Add Toor dal  and fry until light brown with nice aroma.
Care should be taken in adjusting heat medium to low and saute without burning or over- fried.
Add one tbsp of Chana dal and fry together. 
Transfer to a dry bowl.
Set aside to cool down.










In the samebpan, add 1.5 tsp oil.
Heat on low flame.
Add 2 red chillies again.
Transfer chopped shallots and garlic.
Let them sauting until the shallots fried translucent. 
Throw Gooseberry size Tamarind into the pan while sauting.
Then Curry leaves.
Add Coriander seeds and Cumin seeds.
Saute for a while.
Add shredded Coconut and saute again for a second.
Turn off the heat.
Add Rock salt and jaggery powder.
Sprinkle two pinches of Asafoetida.
Mix to combine.
Set Side to cool down.



















Transfer to a mixer jar.
Add half a cup of water.
Grind until coarse textured paste.
Don't add more water.
Add water little by little if you need.








Toor dal Thuvayal is ready to serve.

Serve with hot steamed Rice with a dollop of fresh ghee.
