Rasam is a thin and mild tangy soup from South India. It is made with a combination of cooked dal, spices, lemon juice, Ginger Grated.

It is enjoyed right at the start of the meals of lunch as an hot spicy appetizer.

How to make this zesty lemon-ginger rasam?

Very easy to prepare.


Toor dal 75 gm 
Water 250 ml
Turmeric 1/2 tsp
Castor oil a Few drops
Medium size Tomato one pc
Dry roasted Cumin powder 1 tsp
Dry roasted Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
Grated Garlic 1 tsp
Asafoetida 2 pinches
Curry leaves 15 pcs
Dry Red Chilly 1-2 pcs optional 
Lemon juice squeezed from a whole lemon
Grated Ginger 1 tsp
Chopped coriander greens, a fistful
Himalayan pink rock salt 3/4-1 tsp optional
Water 250 ml to dilute dal contents
